Build A Snowman: Long & Short O Vowel Review

As part of our snow theme I have been working with the Oldest Diva on long & short o vowels sounds.
I thought it would be fun to have her build a snowman as she read some target words and categorized them.

Note: Even though we did this for the short vowel sound it can be done for any of the vowels or you can modify it to fit your needs. I am going to make a copy with some preschool sight words for the Littlest Diva and numbers 11-20. As she correctly reads the sight words or identifies the numbers she can build her snowman until it's complete.

Build A Snowman - Long & Short O Vowel Review

What You Need:
snowman -
6 circles for body, 6 smaller circles for buttons, hats, carrot noses & arms
Just color and add your target words, numbers, etc.
I am having issues uploading it but will post it as soon as I can.
large baking sheets

How To Play:
1. Starting with the 3 large circle pieces (body) read the words on each circle and categorize them as either long or short o words, placing the pieces on the correct baking sheet.

2. Continue until all pieces have been read & placed and your 2 snowmen are completed.

Our Long o Snowman:

The Oldest Diva had fun with this. I am going to make a few "extra" pieces that do not fit (a, e, i, u words) to offer a bit of a challenge. The important part of this is that I review the phonics rules with the Oldest Diva as we play. The more we discuss it and the more she sees the examples - the better she is getting at applying it when she is trying to read on general.
